Experiencing at two prestigious universities in the world: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and National University of Singapore (NUS), Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Sang shared how his years here have shaped his teaching and research style.
For him, the most profound mark in his study abroad journey is the people and the learning environment.
During his time studying overseas, his passion for science was inflamed by his teacher’s and peers’ determination to research. “I saw the desire to conquer science from every small gesture or word”, Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Sang shared. The images of students dozing off in MIT’s auditorium are not easily seen. If there is any, it might be due to overwork, not that they are lazy or sluggish.
At the world’s top universities, it is not difficult to meet well-known professors with long experience in their fields. What makes him treasure the years at MIT is the professor’s tolerance and encouragement to motivate students for further development in all circumstances.
From the years abroad, Assoc. Prof. Sang learned the teaching methods and student accompaniment spirit from his lecturers. The Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering hopes he can boost the student’s confidence in their knowledge and their own worth, as the teachers he always admired did.
