During the research program at KU Leuven University, Assoc. Prof. Hong Minh claimed that the similarity between HUST students and foreign students in the top learning environments is academic excellence. “Real learning – Real research – Real results” is the common spirit of lecturers and students. She shared, “People told me that choosing HUST and studying engineering was a difficult path. But at HUST, I put my hands to real work. This is why I know the environment is suitable for me.”

Ms Minh recalled she used to visit 7-8 factories when she was a postgraduate to conduct and complete her research. At KU Leuven, studies must produce provable results and be ready to publish because the research topics from the beginning are not theoretical but come from business problems.

Although the research process is complicated, the students have the opportunity to assert themselves with their knowledge and work. In the international environment, lecturers always encourage debate from different sides. Every time her opinion was approved by the instructor, she felt more mature and confident on her path to discovering science.

The Deputy Head of the Research Management Department reflected she learned to work professionally with great attention to detail and a friendly lifestyle during her time here. These qualities have helped her greatly in her later career.

“People often separate the role of a lecturer, researcher or manager, but when becoming the principal investigator of a scientific project, there is no clear boundary on each function and task,” she said. It is important to transparently and smoothly implement the task. Assoc. Prof. Hong Minh also expects the research exchange between Vietnamese universities and enterprises to be strongly and closely fostered and promoted, with practical problems for the students and scientists.
