Remembering the first time she got a scholarship and had the opportunity to attend Cambridge University, MA. Pham Hoai Anh was surprised. This opportunity came by chance when her classmate shared the information about the Cambridge Scholarship.
Cambridge is known for its very high admission standards. “Students were all carefully selected, so participating in an excellent learning environment motivated me,” she shared.
The young lecturer always explored, learned, and exchanged with professors and staff to get new lessons with the hope that she could apply them to the HUST teaching process, encouraging students to be more eager with learning.
Ms Hoai Anh is interested the most in learner autonomy at Cambridge. Here, students’ self-study was highly encouraged: Rather than staying in class, students spend time on self-study, self-discovery, research, and orientation.
After studying and researching at Cambridge University, MA. Hoai Anh realized that she had changed a lot: She become more understanding and more mature with a more comprehensive and multi-dimensional perspective. She also formed the habit of independence and self-control with a high sense of responsibility for what she did.
“That is also what I have applied to my work at HUST”. The lecturer said that she was willing to encourage student autonomy in learning and research. “Having autonomy, students will surely succeed,” the lecturer affirmed.
